In our last episode of the Courageous Conversation series, our speakers discuss the role that love in breaking the destructive cycle of hate, racism, and patriarchy that our world seems to be stuck in. Their reflection on love as a powerful force for healing, understanding, and unity is a powerful testament to hope on our journey toward a more just and equitable world.

Brian McLaren
Brian D. McLaren is an author, speaker, activist, and public theologian. A former college English teacher and pastor, he is a passionate advocate for “a new kind of Christianity” – just, generous, and working with people of all faiths for the common good. He is an Auburn Senior Fellow, a contributor to We Stand With Love, and a leader in the Convergence Network, through which he is developing an innovative training/mentoring program for pastors and church planters.

Sr. Simone Campbell
Sister Simone Campbell (Roman Catholic Sister of Social Service) is a religious leader, attorney, author, and recipient of a 2022 Presidential Medal of Freedom (the United States’ highest civilian honor). She has extensive experience in public policy rooted in the lived experiences of people at the economic margins of society. Now she leads “Understanding US” focused on political healing. For 17 years she was executive director of NETWORK, Lobby for Catholic Social Justice, and leader of Nuns on the Bus.

Lina Srivastava
Lina Srivastava, founder of the Center for Transformational Change, is a strategist, advocate, and producer who catalyzes systems change by combining technology, culture, and art alongside NGOs, global institutions, and independent media creators. A former attorney and non-profit executive director, Lina has collaborated with organizations such as the ICRC, UNICEF, UNESCO, IRC, World Bank, The New Humanitarian, and FilmAid, and has designed and supported social engagement campaigns for award-winning documentaries and immersive media and arts projects. 

Over the past year, we had the privilege of hosting seven transformative dialogues, featuring 20 incredible speakers who illuminated our minds and hearts with their insights. While this episode is the last in our Courageous Conversation Series, it’s exciting to look back on the conversations that sparked deep reflection and meaningful action. From exploring the power of local leadership to celebrating the resilience and strength of immigrant women, together, we delved into pressing issues, shared stories of hope, and charted pathways toward a more just and equitable world.
