We hope this finds you safe and healthy wherever you have been sheltering.
If you are reading this, you may be a friend in the network of the Imago Dei Fund (IDF), the Institute for Faith and Gender Empowerment (IFAGE), and/or someone we have been in touch with about an initiative we piloted last year, and are relaunching this fall, called The Girl Child & Her Long Walk to Freedom: Putting Faith to Work Through Love to Break Ancient Chains.
We would like to extend an invitation to participate in the next cohort of our six-month reading journey, beginning on October 11, 2020, the International Day of the Girl Child, and ending on March 8, International Women’s Day.
One silver lining of this pandemic is that we all are vividly experiencing how what we do as individuals can be part of collective change. How we live and what we think matters and can either help to flatten or accelerate the curve of disease. As society slowly and tentatively reopens, let us carry forward all that we have learned from COVID-19 and work together to flatten other curves that harm the web of our life together on this planet.
Right now race has the limelight but let us not forget that #BlackLivesMatter, #MeToo, and conversations about economic inequality have all been unfolding together, in different ways addressing the same ancient legacy of harm—the interlocking supremacy systems which tear apart our social fabric.
We are in a liminal space seeking to heal these ancient wounds and take the next step on our “long walk to freedom” to live into our highest and best ideals as a human family.
Indeed, freedom is a long walk. What’s your next step? We offer this journey with the Girl Child to accompany you through this challenging yet expectant time we are living through. In virtually all of our world’s movements of liberation, the liberation of the female half of the human family has taken a back seat or been thrown under the bus all together, as her oppression is a root oppression which lives within all others and traces its history back to the very cradles of civilization.
If your curiosity is piqued about how you can put faith to work through love to flatten the intolerable status quo that surrounds growing up female in our world today, the reading journey experience is perfect for you.
We invite you to spend time on our website and read more about how we can move toward freedom together, during these uncertain times.

As parents of girls, we are doing this work because we want to give our world’s girls – and their daughters’ daughters – a world where they can grow up to have a childhood free of exploitation and breathe the air of freedom we all need to thrive as human beings.
It’s afternoon for us but still morning for our girls.
