Thank you for your interest in working with the Girl Child Long Walk Project on a translation and cultural adaption of our animated explainer video on patriarchy. Girls are born into a world with traditions and practices that groom them to be second-class citizens and make them vulnerable to myriad forms of normalized devaluation, abuse, neglect, and injustice. Our video succinctly explains the ancient origin and systemic nature of patriarchy, as seen through the eyes of the “Girl Child” – one who represents girl children everywhere.

The Girl Child is a joint project of the Imago Dei Fund and the Institute for Faith and Gender Empowerment. It launched in 2018 with a mission to bring a contemplative and historic awareness to the intersection of faith and gender inequality and help people “put faith to work through love” to transform the deep roots under global patriarchy.

On behalf of girl children everywhere, thank you for your interest in working with us to seek liberation from the systems that assign them a low, subservient, and even shame-based status.

Terms of Partnership and Collaboration

The original Girl Child video has been watched over 25,000 times and translated into French, Portuguese, Kiswahili, and Hausa, with other translations and adaptation underway. The process of developing new translations has been organic, collaborative, and in response to community needs. As we formalize this process, we have come up with some parameters for collaboration:

  • A positive and collaborative process where the translating party will contribute pro bono services to the process and the Girl Child project will cover the cost and manage the process of the synchronization and finalization of the video. Pro bono contributions may include: translation of the script, management of the voiceover of the video for quality management purposes, and support on outreach and distribution of the final translated video.
  • A contractual understanding that the translating party and the Girl Child project will agree to share the credit of the video production on all communication channels (social media, YouTube, websites, earned media, etc.)
  • An agreement that the translating party will have the full use of the video for outreach and educational purposes addressing issues of gender inequality and the promotion of gender equality.

Please fill out this application and include your resume and/or your organization’s profile if you plan to be working on this translation within the framework of a specific organization. This is our way of getting to know you better.
